We designed and developed a custom transportation management application that brings client transportation requests, driver operations, dispatch management, ride tracking, invoicing, payments, and scheduling into a centralized digital platform. The solution was built for a transportation company managing different vehicle types and transportation requirements, including accessible vehicles, wheelchair transportation, ambulatory services, buses, and specialized equipment.
The platform provides dedicated experiences for both clients and drivers while connecting their workflows through a centralized backend. Clients can manage transportation requests, upcoming and completed rides, invoices, and payments, while drivers can manage their daily runsheets, active rides, ride information, and operational updates. Backend automation also supports ride scheduling and driver assignment, helping streamline day-to-day transportation operations.

Centralizing Transportation Requests and Dispatches
The transportation company needed a centralized system to manage client transportation requirements and coordinate scheduled rides. A digital workflow was required to reduce dependency on fragmented communication and provide clients with better visibility into their transportation services.
We developed a centralized transportation workflow where clients can request quotes and dispatches through the application. Once transportation is scheduled, relevant ride information becomes available to clients and drivers through their respective application experiences.
Simplifying Daily Driver Operations
Drivers needed a reliable way to access their assigned transportation runs, manage rides throughout the day, and stay informed about upcoming assignments and operational updates.
We developed a dedicated driver application experience with daily and future runsheets. Drivers can access their assigned rides, start transportation services, manage ride-related information, review completed rides and notes, and receive relevant notifications.
Providing Real-Time Ride Visibility
The business required better visibility into active rides once transportation had started, allowing the operation to understand where vehicles were during an active service.
When a driver starts a ride, the application begins logging their location. This location data enables real-time visibility into active transportation services and provides the business with a clearer view of rides while they are in progress.
Reducing Manual Scheduling Work
As transportation operations grow, manually assigning rides and managing driver schedules can become time-consuming and difficult to maintain.

The driver application also provides access to relevant invoice information, keeping financial records available within the driver's digital workspace.

Drivers receive notifications for relevant transportation and operational updates, helping them stay informed about activities associated with their assigned rides.
Automated Ride Scheduling
The backend includes automated scheduling functionality to support ride allocation and driver scheduling.
This capability helps transportation teams manage larger volumes of rides more efficiently while reducing repetitive manual scheduling activities.
Technology & Development Approach
The application was developed as a hybrid mobile application using Flutter, providing a unified development foundation for both client and driver experiences.
The solution uses a centralized backend to manage transportation data, dispatches, scheduling, ride information, location tracking, invoices, payments, and other operational workflows. The Flutter application communicates with the backend through APIs, allowing both user types to work with the same underlying transportation management system while maintaining separate experiences based on their roles.
The project was delivered by a focused development team consisting of one Flutter developer, one backend developer, and a part-time UI/UX designer over a six-month development period.
